English
SoundWaves fun.Monday to Thursday the children will be working on this spelling programme that helps them to sound out, spell, read and develop their understanding of new words. You can find ways of helping your child to learn their list words in the back of their SoundWaves homework booklet. SoundWaves Login for activities at home; www.soundwaveskids.com.au Year 2 code ; mouse190 The children have been very busy writing recounts all about their holiday adventures. What lucky children they are to have such delightful holidays to remember.
A written recount is similar to news telling only in the written form and it is also a great way for us to see how they are going in their spelling, grammar and sentence structure. Keeping a diary at home is a wonderful way for your child to express their feelings from the day and even if they only write a simple sentence that is great. A diary is another form of recount. If you want to see how we structure a simple recount you can follow the plan above. |
Homework
Children need plenty of time to play, relax, and be with you. Once they have, it is time to do some homework which of course you can be part of as well. Reading: Starting in week 2 from Monday, children will bring home a leveled reader to share with you. This book is at a level that they are fluent in and also able to comprehend. The children should be able to comfortably read the books they bring home. Children may read other books for pleasure but this book is their main school reader. Please email us or pop in to ask for any clarification on reading or any other homework. IMaths in our classroom.
All year two children are involved in an investigation based numeracy program known as IMaths. Each day the children are involved in a variety of Maths activities derived directly from both the West Australian Curriculum and ACARA(National) Children are explicitly taught a maths concept or strategy and then are given an opportunity to explore using concrete materials. Children who are ready may move onto more abstract work in the form of investigations and textbook work. Guided Maths groups allow children of all abilities to achieve and progress at their own rate. Assessment is done at the completion of topics and is tracked to show areas of need or extension. Please allow time for your child to access IMaths online; www.imathskids.com.au The code is; slug436 |
